Environmental management philosophy

In order to realize the future we aim for, "Joy for Life ®︎-Bringing joy to the future by food" J-OIL MILLS Group strives to reduce the burden on the global environment while appropriately collaborating with diverse stakeholders based on respect for humanity. We will continue to contribute to reducing environmental pollution and creating a sustainable, recycling-oriented society.

Information disclosure

We disclose information on initiatives to reduce the burden on the global environment, conserve resources and save energy, and other environmental conservation activities, and make the content public in order to promote communication with society.

Environmental policy

  • We will understand and evaluate the relationship between global environmental and social conditions and business activities, and initiatives to resolve issues.
  • We pursue the minimization of environmental impact. We value local resources, strive to conserve resources and energy, and reduce CO2 emissions, and regularly report on plans and results.
  • We strive to maximize the efficiency of resource use and procurement that preserves the ecosystem, contributing to the preservation of the natural environment, including biodiversity.
  • We comply with related laws and regulations and respond appropriately to international standards and standards.
  • We aim to be a business office that takes into account the perspective of local residents, and grow together with connections with customers, consumers, and the local community.
  • We provide systematic education and awareness so that it leads to concrete actions.

Promotion system

In order to deliberate on policies and various measures related to environmental conservation activities, etc., the Quality, Environment and Safety Committee has been established under the President to determine targets for environmental conservation activities, formulate single-year plans, deliberate on countermeasures, and review the status of implementation. In addition, Environment Working Group, which is under Sustainability Committee Sustainable Procurement and Environment Subcommittee, promotes and disseminates initiatives to the outside world on climate change and environmental issues in conjunction with our sustainability policy and the issues solutions of the SDGs.

Environmental audit

We check the status of implementation of environmental conservation activities based on environmental conservation regulations. In addition, all Plant in the production department operate an environmental management system based on ISO 14001, conduct environmental audits, and strive to ensure proper operation and advancement. Each Plant in the production department conducts environmental assessments to investigate and evaluate whether there is any impact on the environment in advance, and implements countermeasures if necessary based on the evaluation results. Based on these environmental audits, we are continuing to improve our environmental conservation activities.

Obtaining management certification

J-OIL MILLS has obtained ISO14001 (environmental management system) certification at all production sites. In addition to in-house Internal audit, we also undergo an annual audit by an external auditing organization to ensure continuous improvement.

Education

J-OIL MILLS believes that it is important for each and every employee to raise their awareness of environmental issues and to take the initiative in tackling them in their daily work, so we have created a venue for environmental education and awareness for our employees. We hold "Environmental Seminars" on an ongoing basis. Starting in fiscal 2018, we expanded the scope of the course to include not only the production department and R&D department, but also the head office. We also provide follow-up after the seminars, such as asking each business site to propose on-site improvement activities.

Serious environmental violations and actions

In fiscal 2022, there were no cases in which the J-OIL MILLS Group was subject to any violation of laws or regulations, fines, legal orders, or other penalties related to the environment.

Pollution prevention initiatives

J-OIL MILLS Group strives to prevent pollution of air, water, soil, etc., and strives to preserve the natural environment by reducing and properly disposing of hazardous waste and pollutants. We will comply with laws and ordinances, and strive to reduce emissions of pollutants and pollutants, even those that are not subject to regulations.

The goal

J-OIL MILLS Group supports the Global Warming Countermeasures Promotion Law, the Global Warming Countermeasures Plan, and the Law Concerning the Rational Use of Energy (Energy Saving Law), which are laws and regulations related to the country's climate change countermeasures. We are promoting initiatives to reduce gas emissions.
We have also set goals and are working on initiatives regarding water and waste.
