J-OIL MILLS dX
1. Message from the President
We are working on dX as initiatives to strengthen our management foundation in order to realize "Joy for Life-Bringing joy to the future by food." To achieve this, we have established a promotion system centered on management and business managers, and have set four reform themes (business reform, SCM/logistics, sales/marketing, and human resource development) with each executive in charge serving as leader. The dX we are aiming for goes beyond simple business improvements; it aims to establish a comparative advantage, including the creation of a database of "Oishisa design," through reforms that encompass our business, product services, and business model, and to realize our vision and mission.
2. J-OIL MILLS' dX, dX Strategy
We are promoting dX (digital transformation) to realize the future we aim for in our corporate philosophy, "Joy for Life - Bringing joy to the future by food"and to achieve our mission. dX aims to enhance competitiveness by utilizing digital technologies such as AI and IoT to transform our business, products, services, and business models. We emphasize the "X" in the term "dX" because we are focusing not simply on digitalization but on "transformation" that changes the business itself.
This dX initiatives is comprised of four stages: "Business transformation," "Collaboration transformation (internal and external)," "Business transformation/new business creation," and "Social transformation," and will be carried out in a gradual and multi-layered manner. Among these, "Social transformation" refers to providing value to society through business transformation, which will ultimately lead to the realization of our philosophy.
3. Organizational structure
system
We have launched the "dX Promotion Project" under the direct control of our CEO, and are working on "dX" across departments. Currently, four themes based on our dX strategy are being implemented under the leadership of the executives in charge. We will continue to add and promote new themes.
4. Specific initiatives
Human Resources Development/Corporate Culture Reform Team Initiatives
We provide opportunities and information throughout the company to promote dX education. We also provide in-house classroom training for management to promote penetration within our organization. We have also set up online communities for each advanced technology, such as AI and BI tools, to promote information sharing. We monitor the number of people taking training courses and the number of participants in the communities to measure the level of digital penetration.
Business Reform Team Initiatives
We are not just improving our operations, but are also promoting fundamental reforms that utilize the power of digital technology to address common company-wide issues. By quantitatively analyzing the current state of operations and working to solve structural issues and build new systems from the perspective of overall optimization, we aim to bring about change that is not bound by conventional frameworks.
Sales/Marketing Team Initiatives
- In the sales department, we have launched a system that promotes digital-driven decision-making, knowledge systematization, and process visualization. We believe that this will not only improve the efficiency and sophistication of daily operations, but also contribute greatly to business linkages with the marketing department. We will also proceed with quantifying the know-how of "Oishisa design" In the future, we will develop products such as "Cho Toku," long-lasting oil that uses our proprietary technology "SUSTEC" and the IT-based service "Fry Eco-System" as we take the dX step toward social change.
- "Fry Eco-System" is a service that utilizes IT and our proprietary technology "SUSTEC" to produce long-lasting oil "Cho Toku". It is a system that combines the pursuit of Good taste with consideration for the environment by measuring oils and fats deterioration, supporting operations to extend use, and automating operations. We will strengthen our ability to solve our customers' issues by proposing a combination of our unique products and business support services.
SCM/Logistics Team Initiatives
- We are utilizing digital technology and data to improve our logistics system and streamline delivery. We also set KPIs such as inventory turnover days to manage these initiatives.
- We have achieved greater efficiency through seamless information sharing between systems. At the same time, we have established a data warehouse to store data. We have also introduced business intelligence (BI) tools, creating an environment that automatically visualizes and provides information useful for decision-making, and are making full use of this.
Promoting dX and improving IT system environment and operations
We undertook a large-scale overhaul of our core systems (sales, purchasing, production, and accounting) between fiscal 2020 and fiscal 2024. This enabled us to achieve advanced management of each business operation and increased efficiency through seamless information sharing between systems. At the same time, we developed a data warehouse to store data. This manages and distributes master data used by various systems and stores information output from each system. We also developed a data dictionary (a dictionary that compiles information about data) to enable easy data search. We also introduced business intelligence (BI) tools to create and utilize an environment that automatically visualizes and provides information useful for decision-making. We plan to continue investing ¥4 billion in digital transformation between fiscal 2025 and fiscal 2030.
We are also promoting the use of generative AI. In addition to providing learning opportunities, we are creating a user community space that serves as a forum for co-creation where knowledge can be pooled. Furthermore, we are creating a system that can respond quickly and continuously to business needs by automating business processes with RPA and in-house development of business applications using no-code/low-code tools.
We are aware of trends in cybersecurity risks and are continually working to strengthen our response as follows:
- Introduction of systems and software to prevent unauthorized intrusion into the company network
- Implementing PPAP*1 measures to prevent information leaks via email attachments
- Security training for all employees
- Establishment of a CSIRT*2 to quickly resolve incidents and minimize damage when they occur
- Promoting migration to a zero trust security*3 platform
*2 CSIRT (Computer Security Incident Response Team): An organization that responds when an incident occurs that could lead to security issues in computer systems or networks.
*3 A new approach to security that protects information assets by not trusting any users, devices, or networks, whether internal or external, from the start, and by conducting strict authentication and verification at each access.
5. Response to the DX Certification System
On Saturday, November 1, 2025, we were certified as a "DX Certified Business Operator" under the "DX Certification System" established by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
The DX Certification System is a government-sponsored system that certifies companies that are deemed to be ready to promote DX in accordance with the Digital Governance Code, which outlines what is required of managers in response to social change brought about by digital technology.
Our initiatives to streamline business processes and transform our business through the use of digital technology were highly evaluated, leading to our certification.
