Overview

J-OIL MILLS Group works together in various ways to grow together by building connections with people all over the country through our products and services, including those in the communities where Plant are located.
We will continue to make broad contributions to society in order to realize our goal of "Joy for Life-Bringing joy to the future by food."

    Plant initiatives

    Our Group has production bases all over the country and values our relationships with the local community. Each production base has been working to improve its business activities from various angles by listening to the opinions and requests of local residents through daily interactions with them. Each production base, including Shizuoka Plant, Yokohama Plant, and Kobe Plant, has long been engaged in cleanup activities with the objectives of "contributing to the local community and environment," "beautifying the surrounding area," "raising environmental awareness among employees," and "strengthening labor-management cooperation."

    Sponsoring the “Kobe Olive Festival”

    In November 2025, the Kobe Olive Festival was held at the Stella Hall in Kobe Kitano Nosta, where local residents could learn about and enjoy the connection between Kobe and olives. Our company participated as a sponsor, and a Master Olive Oil Sommelier gave an easy-to-understand lecture on the history of olive oil, the difference between extra virgin and pure, recommended ways to use olive oil, and more.

    In August 2023, at the request of the Shizuoka Prefecture Industrial Waste Association, a public interest incorporated association, we held Plant tour called "We Are Sanpai Detectives" at Shizuoka Plant, where parents and children could think about industrial waste, which has a significant impact on our daily lives, by visiting industrial waste-producing Plant and industrial waste treatment facilities. During the tour, we also explained our Group 's initiatives to reduce industrial waste and various environmentally friendly products.

    Supporting families with children through food

    We support Kobe City's initiative to "Support connections through food for families raising children" and are supporting initiatives by providing our products.

    Support for creating a place for children

    In August 2020, our Group, in collaboration with Iceline Co., Ltd., began selling "Harenokuni soybean Cooking Oil" a private brand (PB) product for Business use oils and fats for the company.
    For each can of this product sold, Iceline Co., Ltd., our company, and the restaurant that purchased it will each donate the same amount, and the donation will be made to Okayama City's "Creating a Place for Children" project*1. As a result of our activities, the circle of support is steadily expanding, with the number of participating restaurants now reaching approximately 200. To date, we have donated over 3 million yen, and will continue to provide support in the future.

    *1 Initiatives to increase the number of "places" where children and families in difficulty can be identified and connected to the necessary support, such as through children's cafeterias and learning support, and where they can connect with local adults and society.

  • Food education

    We utilize our extensive knowledge and experience regarding oils and fats to carry out food education activities.

    Parent-child event held in collaboration with "Kids' Orange Page"

    In March 2025, we teamed up with "Kids' Orange Page" to hold "J-OIL MILLS Exciting Parent-Child Cooking Lessons: Learn About the Power of Oil, Make It, and Eat It Vol. 2" at the hands-on studio Coto Lab Asagaya. This was the second time this event was held, following last year. The first half was titled "In-Depth Research on Vegetable Oils," and participants compared the colors and scents of edible oils and took part in a quiz. The second half consisted of a cooking class, where 14 groups of elementary and junior high school students and their parents experienced the appeal and Good taste of vegetable oil. Participants commented, "It was great to learn about vegetable oil in a fun and delicious way!" and "I learned that vegetable oil is used in many dishes."

    "Children's Japanese Food Session" Booth Exhibit

    In August 2025, following on from last year, we exhibited a booth at the "Children's Washoku Session," a summer vacation food education experience event. This event, co-hosted by the Japanese Food Culture National Council and the Hattori Gakuen Hattori Nutrition College, aims to provide children with an opportunity to experience and develop interest in Japanese cuisine. Our booth, once again based on the theme "Learn and Enjoy Vegetable Oils!", exhibited panels on the types of vegetable oils, their manufacturing processes, and their history. To help visitors become more familiar with vegetable oils, we screened videos showing the manufacturing process of soybean and canola, and displayed actual samples of intermediate products from each manufacturing process, clearly explaining the process from product to product. As part of the hands-on program, we held an "oil rice ball" making event, demonstrating how adding vegetable oils enhances Good taste of rice balls and allowing participants to experience the different flavors of different types of vegetable oils.

    On-site classes for elementary school students “Learning Festival 2023 Summer”

    In August 2023, we exhibited at "Learning Festival 2023 Summer," an on-site class for elementary school students sponsored by Mainichi Shimbun Co., Ltd. and Mainichi Shogakusei Shimbun. Our company held a class on oil and an olive oil tasting under the theme of "Become an Olive Doctor." Approximately 2,000 elementary school students and their parents attended the event, and our booth was a great success. As a company involved in food, we will continue to carry out various initiatives such as food education activities.

  • environmental conservation

    Donations to activities aimed at preserving the ocean and river environments

    We have implemented the "JOYL Green Project," a project in which we donate a portion of the sales proceeds from the "Smart Green Pack"series of edible oils in paper cartons, to JEAN, a general incorporated association that works to protect the environment of oceans and rivers, including reducing marine plastic. This project will be carried out for the fourth time in 2025, and approximately 3 yen will be donated for each product in the "Smart Green Pack" series, with a total donation of 977,206 yen being used for activities to reduce marine plastic.
